Meet Marina Castellanos, MPT, PCES

Marina Castellanos, MPTIn 2015, Marina was inspired to open a physical therapy practice for the treatment of women and children with pelvic floor dysfunction. Having experienced symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction as a child, and then again as an adult in the form of severe pelvic pain, she fully appreciates the impact these conditions can have on a patient and their family. She received training through the renowned Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehab Institute, Institute for Birth Healing , The Barral Institute, and is a certified Pre/Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist. She loves expanding her knowledge in the field, always wanting to provide her patients with the best of care.

Marina approaches patient care with the firm belief that the patient’s goals are the priority. She believes it is of the utmost importance for the patient to be an active participant in the healing process through collaboration and education.

After graduating from Quinnipiac University in 2001 with a Masters of Physical Therapy degree, Marina began her career as a pediatric physical therapist. Having worked with children with a vast variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, and genetic disorders, Marina developed expertise in various therapeutic approaches to patient care. Over the years, Marina utilized her skills to provide physical therapy in clinic settings, as well as in patient’s homes and schools. She embraced therapeutic treatments ranging from gentle interventions for infants, to orthopedic manual skills and strengthening for teens/young adults. In 2007, she completed the NDT/Bobath Certificate Course in the Management and Treatment of Children with Cerebral Palsy and other Neuromotor Disorders. Marina has utilized her background in providing gentle manual techniques in approaching the sensitive nature of women’s health physical therapy treatment.

Marina is native to Westchester and has always enjoyed serving the community she lives in. She enjoys cooking, exercising, and spending time with family and friends. In recent years she has developed an appreciation for meditation and yoga as adjuncts to healing and wellness. She became a certified Reiki II provider in 2013.
